Annotinous upon a time, a polite English Jehovah’s Witness visited my office at home. I had always been warned to forgo the JW’s recluse concerning their beliefs on Jehovah, because ” “they really know what they are talking anent In the early eighties, I found a copy of the New World Translation which is the official Regard Tower Bible since 1960 (before this duration they worn the KJV). Its well-known green jacket covers a myriad of lesser-known gnostic perversions and omissions. Over the years I have spent time comparing texts and taking notes on what it states on Jehovah. After a while I became convinced that their cause for confidence concerning their teachings about Jehovah was not warranted, and could hardly be proved from their translation. In the following statements the Watch Tower Society presents how they see “them” who swallow in the “Pagan” trinity, and then state their own beliefs which they claim to travel back to the early basilica fathers.
“Why should a subject like this (trinity) be quantity added than fleeting interest? Because Jesus himself said: ‘Eternal ontological is this: to know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent’. So our entire envision hinges on our knowing the true nature of God, and that means getting to the root of the trinity spat Therefore why not examine it for yourself Diverse Trinitarian concepts exist. But mainly the Trinity teaching is that in the God-head, there are three persons, Father; Son and Holy Ghost; yet, together they are but one God. The doctrine says that the three are co–equal, Almighty and Everlasting, having existed eternally in the God- head. Others [JW s] say the Trinity doctrine is false, that Almighty God stands alone as a separate, eternal and all powerful being. They say that Jesus in his pre-human existence was like the angels, a compartmentalized spirit individual created by God, moreover for this reason he must enjoy had a beginning. They teach that Jesus has never been Almighty. Gods equal in any sense; he has always been subject to God and still is. They also believe that the Holy Wraith is not a person, just Gods spirit, his active force.”
Should You Accept the Trinity, p3 [a Watch Tower Publication] .
They then present an impressive list of sacerdotal fathers: Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, Tertillian, Hippolytus and Origen, stating that they all taught that Jesus was a created being and there was only one God – Jehovah. They neglect to inform the unsuspecting primer that these “illustrious divines” were uncut gnostic heretics, who played their part in the corrupting of the pure original Bible manuscripts. Most of these forgeries were carried out at the city of Alexandria in Egypt; hence the name bestowed on these faulty manuscripts gives infamy to the scene like this prophesied (Daniel 8:12) crime against God. Jerome was influence by Origen, and used his faulty manuscripts in the translation of his Roman Catholic Latin Bible.
These equivalence manuscripts, coincidentally or otherwise, own been used by Westcott and Hort, the closet catholics in the Church of England to fetch forth the l88l Revised Version which in reality was “revising” us back to Rome. The Watchtower Society has used these same corrupted manuscripts in their translations since 1960 and have logically come to the same conclusion as Origen and his comrade travellers. Nevertheless, regardless these corruptions, the divinity of Christ container still be found in their translation.
They go on handy providing a plethora concerning evidence which shows that uncommon of pagan religion had a triune Godhead or trinity. They then take the next step and say that this is the pagan triune that boldly strode into the early church and from there into today’s christendom. While there is some truth in the evidence presented, all the church fathers moreover all historic evidence must submit to the AUTHORITY OE THE WORD OE GOD. It is in the oracles of God alone that we must be convinced that the Watchtower beliefs can be upheld, not from paganism or the church fathers.
The Witnesses aver the Father alone is Jehovah, Almighty, Everlasting, Creator, and is One God. Now if we can find any evidence from the Newfangled World Translation Bible that Jesus is called Jehovah, Almighty God, Everlasting Father or Creator, again we prove that the Lighthouse are refusal Jehovah’s Witnesses on this matter, which they claim is of eternal consequences. My English friend agreed with me that the Anagogy was the plummet to measure all doctrine by. I politely suggested we use his New World Translation. He agreed with me. We studied their New World Translation to see if it proved the Watch Tower Society was right.
They claim that Deuteronomy 6:4 teaches that there is only one God. “Listen O Israel; Jehovah our God is one Jehovah.” I consequently show him Isaiah 9:6 “For there has been a child born to us, there has bot a son given to us, and the princelv rule will come to indiging upon his shoulder: And His stipulate shall be called Wonderful, mentor Mighty Gad, Eternal Father Prince of Peace.” I asked my WV visitor: Who is this referring to? He didn’t answer. I said, “this is a attributable to Jesus Christ, and he is called Mighty God and Eternal Father”. He replied Jehovah is Puissant God and Jesus is just Mighty God. I replied but that makes two Gods instead of the one you said is mentioned in Deut 6:4. It also states that Jesus is Eternal Father. I then showed him Jeremiah 32: 18, where Jehovah refers to Himself as Mighty God, not Almighty. We then went to Rev 1:8, “I am the alpha und so weiter omega says Jehovah God, the one who is and who was and who is coming the Almighty? I asked who is this? He replied well it says it is Jehovah God. We hence read Rev 22:13 “I am the Beginning and Omega, the leading and the last, the beginning and the end.” I then asked who is this? He replied it must be Jehovah God because it mentions the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last. We then read Rev 1:17, “I am the first und so weiter the last.” I asked again who is this? He said it must be Jehovah. I then read verse 18, And the living one und so weiter I became dead but look! I am living for ever and ever” I then asked him when did this happen? He didn’t know. I mentioned that this happened on Calvary, when Jesus Christ died.
In Isaiah 49:15-16, Jehovah states that he had engraved us on the palms of His hands. In John 20:27-28 Jesus showed his nailed scarred hands to doubting Thomas et sequens Thomas said My Lord and My God. On Mount Sinai Jehovah gave His wonderful law. Deut 4:11-14. In John 14:15, Jesus said that this Law was His. In Ex 13:21 Jehovah was a cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night to Israel. In 1 Cor 10:4 we see that Jesus was the one who gave them water, fire by night also a ominous by day. In Jeremiah 2:13, we comprehend Jehovah says that He is the living water and Israel was going behind broken cisterns. In John 4: 14, Christ said He is this living water unto everlasting life, In Ex 25:8, Jehovah said to Israel to physique a sanctuary for Him consequently He could occupy with them. In Malachi 3: 1, Jehovah said he would send His messenger (John the Baptist) to make clear the way so Jehovah can come suddenly to His temple. In Haggai 2:7-9 Jehovah said, that this temple would be greater than So1omon’s glorious temple because Jehovah was to visit this new temple. In Matthew 12:6, Jesus said he was greater than this temple. In Matt 21 : 12 he visited His temple and said it was “MY” temple. Here we see both Jehovah further Jesus claiming that the temple belongs to everyone one about them. Is Jesus trying t0 take Jehovah’s glory, which Jehovah said he would never give to another (see Isa 42:8). I am Jehovah that is my name, and to no one else shall I give my glory. In John 17:5 Jesus asks Jehovah to glorify Him including the glory He had with the Father before the world was.
In Gen 1:26 Jehovah said “Let us coerce man in our own image”. See also Gen 3:22. “Here the man has become like one of us in knowing good and bad”. Gen 11:7, Jehovah said… “let us go down and there confuse their 1anguage”. In Isaiah 6:8. Besides I began to hear the voice about Jehovah saying, “whom shall I send, and who capricious go for us?” In Isaiah 42:5 this is what the [true] God, Jehovah has said “the Creator of the heavens and the grand one stretching them out; the one laying out the earth and its produce, the one giving breath to the people on it”. In John 1:3 we find that the Sentinel Tower Bible says Jesus is the creator of all things (except they say, he didn’t make himself!). We can only conclude that Jesus is Jehovah according to their Bible. In Isaiah 43:3 it says “For I am Jehovah your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savi0ur”. In Acts 4: 12, ‘Further more there is refusal salvation in anyone extra [but Jesus – v10], for there is not another name under celestial that has been given among men aside which we must opheffen saved”. In Isaiah 28:16 it says, Jehovah is the foundation stone of Zion, tried and precious. In Acts 4:11, it states Jesus is that foundation stone, so Jesus must be Jehovah. See also Psalm 118:22. This shows Jehovah was the cornerstone whom the builders rejected.
In Micah 7: 18 Jehovah forgave sins. In Luke 5:20-21 Jesus forgave sins. Thereupon the scribe polysyndeton the Pharisees started to reason saying: Who is this that is speaking blasphemies who can forgive sins except Jehovah alone?
In Jude 14 it says “Yes the seventh one (in line) from Adam, Enoch prophesied also regarding them, although he said: Look! Jehovah came with his holy myriads, to execute judgment against all… In Rev 19:11-17 we see that The Word of Godlike (Jesus) comes to execute judgment. Their Bible again proves Jesus is Jehovah. In 2 Chronicles 20:20 we read “Put fealty in Jehovah your Providence that you may confirm yourselves regarding long duration. Put faith in His [Jehovah’s] prophets and so prove successful”. In Matt 23 :34, “For this reason here I am sending outward to you prophets et alii wise men and public instructors. Some of them you will kill and impale…” Here Jesus is slogan that He is Jehovah who sent forth the prophets. If their Bible is correct on these texts then Jesus is Jehovah.
In Zechariah 2:8-11 Jehovah sends Jehovah to reside in the midst of Israel. “Cry extinguished loudly and delight O daughter of Zion; for here I am coming und so weiter [Jehovah] will reside in the midst of you,” is the utterance of Jehovah. This is Jesus, who came to live in the midst of Israel. Exodus 34: 14 states that Jehovah is a jealous God and we are not to worship any but Jehovah. In Hebrews 1:6 The Father commands all the angels to worship baby Jesus. In Exposure 19:10 the angel refused to prefer worship. Only God can take worship, so Jesus must be more than angel. He is Immanuel – Jehovah with us. Psalm 107:47 states “Save us O Jehovah our God. And collect us together from the nations”. John14: 1-3: Jesus says that He will return and collective His people from amongst the nations.
Psalm 8:1-3: Jehovah our Lord preference be strengthened from out of the mouths of children and sucklings. In Matt 21:16 we see the prodigious fulfillment of this prophecy concerning Jehovah past Jesus Christ if he was encouraged in his work by the praises of the children. The leaders were displeased and Jesus said to them, yes did you never read this “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings you have furnished praise.” We can only determine Jesus is Jehovah. Isaiah 35:5 states that Jehovah would come and save His people and at that time he would open the eyes of the blind, the ears of the deaf, the lame would leap, and the dumb would speak. In Matt 21:14 Jesus heals His people and fulfills this apocalypse concerning Jehovah. In Isaiah 40:10 Jehovah is the shepherd. In John 10:1 l-14 Jesus said that he is the good shepherd. Hymn 23:1 states that Jehovah is the shepherd. The mere conclusion is that Jesus is Jehovah.
Isaiah 40:3 states, “Listen! Someone is calling out in the wilderness. Clear up the way of Jehovah, you people. Cause the highways for our God through the desert plain straight”. In Matt 3:3 we see the remarkable prophecy fulfilled. John the Baptist was the sound in the wilderness, and Jesus is Jehovah! In Isaiah 44:6 we read, “This is what Jehovah has said, the King from Israel et al the Redeemer of Him, Jehovah of Armies. I am the premiere and I am the last and except me there is no God.”
In Rev 19:14-16 We see that the King of Israel and Jehovah of armies is coming again. And I saw the welkin opened et alii look! a impassioned horse. And the one seated thereafter it is called faithful ampersand True, and he judges and carries on war in righteousness. Also the armies that were in heaven were following him on white horses… he will batter the nations and he will shepherd them with a rod of iron… And upon his outer garment, invariable upon His thigh, he has a name written Leonine like Kings and Lord 0f Lords.”
After going through many of these things with my JW English visitor, I asked him if he would like to pray with cr before he left. He answered, “we worship different Gods, so I can not pray amidst you”. I politely agreed, for my God is “Immanuel, Jehovah with us”. Matt 1:23. Jehovah manifested himself in the flesh. I Tim 3:16. He drank the bitter cup and won the victory in the seed of David according to the flesh. Rom 1:3. He condescended to a manger comme il faut a helpless babe et al yet he was infinite (Micah 5:2). He was, as the JW Bible states, our Eternal Father, the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). He has power to create the universe and power to raise Lazareth from his death bed and unlimited plutocratic to raise us up from our armchairs that we might help Him finish the work He started. Jehovah’s Witnesses are neither true witnesses to Jehovah nor true to their Bible. If we do His will we shall know His doctrine (John 7: 17). They are not doing Jehovah’s will, so they do not discern His doctrine. It doesn’t business from what angle the JW s read their Bible, they can’t escape the wonderful fact that many verses proclaim Jesus is Jehovah.
